About Us

Wild & Free Cornwall

Wild & Free Cornwall is a family company, with a love and passion for Cornwall, created to showcase the amazing natural beauty the area has to offer. Cornwall is one of the best places in the world, not only famous for its stunning coastline, coves and turquoise waters, its landscapes are diverse and full of rich history.

The archaeological sites are some of the best in the country, with some dating back many thousands of years. The mining history of Cornwall is inescapable with many mines dotting its landscapes. Cornwall also offers rugged countryside and many wonderful woodland locations . . . even its own areas of temperate rainforest!

Cornwall has some really fantastic wildlife to explore, and is a front runner when it comes to environmental change and wildlife conservation. Not only do we have many charities working hard to protect the oceans, but rewilding projects are taking place all across Cornwall, and wildflowers being sewn year on year.

With this in mind, as a company we not only want to promote the wild beauty of Cornwall, but we also want to protect it. This is why we donate to a number of charities, and even have our own ‘Wild & Free Forest’. We are hoping the more we grow as a company, the more we can support these vital charities.

Charities we Support

Ecologi

We have set up our own ‘Wild and Free Forest’ with the charity ‘ecologi‘. We have started by planting 25 trees, and a wildflower meadow. Our aim as a company is to try and reach 500+ trees alongside a large wildflower meadow. If you would like to help us with this aim you can donate here.

Cornwall Wildlife Trust

Wild & Free Cornwall are members of ‘Cornwall Wildlife Trust‘, which is one of 46 Wildlife Trusts working across the UK.

Cornwall Wildlife Trust “believes in a wilder future for Cornwall, where our wildlife and wild places are cherished for all to enjoy. With the support of our members, we implement projects on land and at sea, conducting campaigns and managing wild spaces to ensure nature in Cornwall thrives for future generations.

We want our nature reserves to reverberate with the joyful sounds of wildlife, to be havens in which rare species flourish and colourful plants thrive.”

RSPB – Royal Society of the Protection of Birds

We are monthly members of the ‘RSPB‘. “Help to restore, protect and care for the places our wildlife call home. Get closer to the nature you care about at over 170 RSPB reserves. By joining, you’ll help us protect wildlife for generations to come.”

If membership is not something you are able to do, the yearly RSPB ‘bird count’ is a fantastic way to help and a fun thing to do for all the family.

WWF – World Wildlife Federation

We are also monthly members of the amazing ‘WWF‘.

“WWF works to help local communities conserve the natural resources they depend upon; transform markets and policies toward sustainability; and protect and restore species and their habitats. Our efforts ensure that the value of nature is reflected in decision-making from a local to a global scale.”

Cornish Seal Sanctuary

We support the fantastic work of the ‘Cornish Seal Sanctuary‘ and the Sealife Trust. We promote their work and provide a yearly donation.

The aim of the sanctuary is “To rescue and provide expert care for sick, injured, or distressed seals and other marine animals in need of help who are found around our shores. To release them back into their natural environment once they are back to full health, and to provide a permanent home and ongoing care for seals and other marine animals who cannot be released back to the wild. We educate and inspire generations to protect our seas and amazing marine life, now and for the future.”

The Marine Conservation Society

We are supporters and members of the ‘Marine Conservation Society‘.

“For over 40 years, we’ve been the leading ocean charity in the UK. We are the go-to voice of the ocean, defending habitats and species. We work to protect the UK’s seas and contribute to international data and legislation wherever possible. But there is much more we want to do to save our seas from outside threats.”

Surfers Against Sewage

“…over the last 30 years Surfers Against Sewage has grown into one of the UK’s most successful marine conservation and campaigning charities. And we’re still growing.

For people to thrive and live life to the fullest, the ocean must thrive too. And so we need to confront all that threatens it. We are a campaigning charity made up of water lovers who protect the ocean and all it makes possible. We take action on the ground that triggers change at the top. Action from the beachfront, to the front-bench.”

Here at Wild and Free Cornwall, we make a yearly donation to ‘Surfers Against Sewage‘ which we hope to be able to increase year on year. More importantly we spend our time alongside our children collecting plastic on Cornwall’s coastline multiple times a year . . . this is something we can all do for free, but the impact is huge.

National Trust

We are members of the National Trust as we believe in the importance of maintaining the history and heritage of the UK and there are some really beautiful National Trust locations in Cornwall. Check out our ‘Top 20 National Trust Sites’ guide page.
